Booktime is the national free books programme for Reception-aged children (age 4-5 years) in England and Wales. It provides a free book pack for every child to share and enjoy with their family and friends.
The programme encourages families to enjoy reading together for fun and for pleasure. The gift of a free book pack supports family engagement in shared reading at an important transition stage in children’s learning and development.
Launched in 2006, Booktime is run by independent charity Booktrust along with Pearson, the world’s leading learning company. This year they’ve sent out just over 696,000 book packs to schools across England, one for every reception-aged child. So that’s 1,392,000 books delivered to 696,000 children to share and enjoy with their family and friends.
Details of this year’s Booktime programme, including this year’s book titles can be found on the Booktime website.
Booktime is the flagship national primary offer from Booktrust, and forms part of a continuum of programmes, projects and prizes inspiring a lifelong love of books for all.
