Herok are big fans of Bookstart and they have a great book club you can join for free –
the Bookstart Bear Club.
There are loads of Great reasons to join the Bookstart Bear Club
The Bookstart Bear Club is a fun and engaging, free online membership club for all babies, toddlers and preschoolers and their families. It will open up an exciting world as you and your child explore stories, books and rhymes together.
Get book recommendations for your child
We select only the best books to include in our Bookstart book finder, from old favourites to the latest titles. Bookstart Bear Club members can get even more – just tell us the age of your child, and we’ll give you some great suggestions for books to enjoy together.
Discover events near you
There are thousands of fun, free Bookstart events for families held every year – from rhymes and songs to stories and crafts, there’s something for everyone!
As a Bookstart Bear Club member, whenever you login we’ll notify you of the next events taking place near you – making it easier than ever to find out what’s on in your area.
Play Bookstart Bear Club games
The Have Some Fun section is packed full of things to do together with your child – interactive story books, rhyming games, drawing games and more. Members of the Bookstart Bear Club also get:
More Fun With Rhymes – illustrations by Rachel Bright. Singalong with the rhymes including Five Little Ducks and Hickory, Dickory Dock, and play the missing word games.
Is This My Nose? – by Georgie Birkett. Turn the pages and listen to this much-loved book for very young children.
Honey Hill Noisy Day – click on the animals to hear them play their musical instruments and create your own song!
Earn stamps, get reward certificates
Every time you share a book, play a Bookstart game or write a review on the website, you can get a stamp for your child’s special online Passport. Collect six and you unlock a beautiful, illustrated certificate that you can even personalise by uploading a photo of your child. There are 10 great certificates to collect – can your child unlock them all to get the extra-special final one? Celebrate your child’s achievement by printing off their certificates to stick on your fridge or noticeboard, or email them to grandparents and friends!
Build a wishlist of books
A wishlist is a great way for you and your child to keep a track of books that have caught your eye. They might be a book recommended by a friend, or a brand new book from a favourite author or illustrator.
Why not print out a copy of your wishlist to take into your library or bookshop, or email it to family or friends to give inspiration for birthday presents?
Treasure your child’s reading journey
Some of the most precious moments with your child are when you sit down together to share a story – from the moment they first grasp a page, to the time they request their favourite book again and again!
Record, relive and revisit those memorable moments by adding the books and special memories to your child’s very own online reading journey.
Why not tell your friends and family about the fun you’ve had together ñ simply print, email or download a beautiful record that they will want to treasure. Don’t forget to upload your photo to make it a truly personal record.
That’s not all…
We also feature story and rhyme recommendations from other Bookstart Bear Club members, e-cards to send to friends and family, exclusive recommended book lists and all the latest Club news.
